O’Gorman Solicitors Sandyford offers a range of legal services in the areas of family law, property and wills and estates.
The practice was founded by Shauna O’Gorman in 1998 in Foxrock and moved to Sandyford in 2012. Shauna had previously practiced in a small number of large firms in Dublin and Limerick – working in both commercial and private client practice. In 2015 the firm completed a rebranding to O’Gorman Solicitors Sandyford.
For many people law is associated with major events in their lives – purchase of a home, sale of the family home, resolution of marriage difficulties, difficulties with neighbours, employment issues, planning for old age (powers of attorney and wills), supporting relatives who have become incapacitated and execution of wills. Many of these events are stressful and challenging – as people deal with them, very often for the first time.
In every interaction with clients O’Gorman Solicitors Sandyford looks to ensure that relevant points are understood, unnecessary stress is avoided and clear advice is provided. The law itself may range from relatively straightforward to very complex – but the objective is to enable the client to make informed decisions and ensure that these are implemented effectively.
Shauna has developed a significant practice in family law over the last number of years. She was one of the founders of the South Dublin Collaborative Lawyers group. In family separations the firm’s first thought is to seek to use collaborative solutions and/ or mediation.
Shauna has very significant experience in conveyancing – both private and commercial property transactions. Clients and their banks rely on the work of the client solicitor to ensure that all pertinent issues are identified and actioned and that title transfers correctly. Unfortunately too many shortcuts taken over the last number of years have given rise to very serious issues for individuals, business and solicitors. There is no substitute for a professional, structured approach, followed by an experienced solicitor. Shauna has practical experience in dispute resolution in relation to property transactions e.g. mortgage arrears, management companies.
Mediation as an approach to problem resolution has gained a significant foothold in the business world over the last number of years. Time and again we see judges recommending mediation to parties in disputes which have come before them. Shauna is a certified mediator – experienced in mediation both in commercial and private client problem resolution.
O’Gorman Solicitors Sandyford provides a range of services to private clients over and above Conveyancing. The firm advises all clients to have a will – and assists clients in the preparation of same. Many clients also seek to implement powers of attorney granting other people specific power to act on their behalf and/or Enduring Powers of Attorney to continue to act on their behalf should they become mentally incapacitated. There are lots of matters to be considered and the firm has extensive experience in advising in these areas. The firm also provides a full range of services with regard to probate – the distribution of assets after the death of a person.
Shauna is a member of Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club and a founding member of the Club Choir, a member of Mayo Sailing Club and a sailor and sea-swimmer.
